About Us

Overcomers Assembly Kingston is part of a larger church family which started in July 2005 in Montreal Quebec. The first public service in Kingston was held on Sunday March 28th 2010. This date was strategically chosen to coincide with the remembrance of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusualem as recorded in the gospels.

It is non-denominational even though it has an Evangelical/Pentecostal outlook. Overcomers Assembly is a church that seeks to be a place where everyone can find comfort, inspiration, peace, love and answers to their prayers. We do not claim to have all the answers, but we seek to be a family of believers who are willing to live our lives totally for the glory of God. We also seek to be a place where people can connect with God and learn to make a difference in the society.

Overcomers Assembly started as a prayer meeting in the living room of Pastor Ade Sobanjo and his wife Olu. On July 10th 2005, the first public service was held. Since then, the church has become home and family to many people. Our Sunday Services are designed to accomodate people who have been away from church for a long time or have never been to church. The music is up-beat, the sermons are very relevant, the atmoshpere is friendly and we do our best to make sure that our visitors are comfortable. We invite you to visit us this week.

When you visit Overcomers Assembly, you will find it more like a family meeting than a formal "religious" gathering The people are loving, and the sermon is relevant and easily applicable. Every week, we gather together in smaller groups to share the love of God and to grow together as Christians. Once you attend one of our Sunday Celebrations, you will always have as much love and support that is necessary for you to grow as a christian.

We believe that God created everyone as part of a masterpiece and as such, everyone has something to contribute to this earth. It is our aim at Overcomers Assembly to help you find your place and to flourish in it.

Before we started Overcomers Assembly, we went round to ask people what they wanted to see in a church. Armed with this information, we designed a style that is understandable by people living in the 21st century and have never been to a church before. However our message remains the same - God is interested in having a relationship with you. God wants to be the centre of your life. He wants you to live your best life now, and Jesus is the way.

What we believe
Jesus: We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s answer to the human question. That Jesus is God with us. We believe that through Christ, we are restored to a loving and powerful relationship with God. We believe that a revelation of Jesus would transform anyone and so we are always excited to introduce Jesus to everyone we meet. We believe that the life of Jesus reveals how humans were created to operate and how much God loves us.

Holy Spirit: We believe that God lives in us through the Holy Spirit, empowering, guiding and teaching us to be the best that God wants us to be. We believe that through the Holy Spirit’s power we can live like Jesus Christ, love like Jesus and operate in divine power like Jesus.

God: We believe that God is the one behind the existence of all things. We believe that God is unsearchable, indescribable, all-powerful, ever faithful, loving, merciful and completely beyond human comprehension.
